A loyal employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 43 years. He transferred, on loan, to Western Electric to install and calibrate gunnery radar on navy fighting vessels during World War II. Later, he was recognized in one of Bell Lab's journals as being one of the country's leading most experts on lead acid batteries.

He coached a national champion ROTC rifle team before the war. Invented numerous electronic devices. Communicated with Admiral Byrd's team at the South Pole, by way of ham radio, from Kansas City Missouri. This event was commemorated in the Kansas City Star.

Former Boyscout Master. Loved to hunt and fish. True to his Irish heritage, after retirement, he raised shamrocks which he sold to Little Rock florists until his death. He died on the Ides of march and was buried on St. Patrick's Day. (additional photo 1 Mr. and Mrs. Angell Allen)
